Meet the Teacher
Albanian-born pianist Antonela Frashëri is a performer and educator whose goal is to bring musical knowledge and enjoyment to beginner and intermediate students of all ages. Antonela aspires to be a piano teacher who challenges students to develop critical thinking skills and encourages them to be effective citizens through lifelong learning and global awareness.
Prior to moving to the Bay Area in December 2018, Antonela was a faculty member at the Music Academy of North Carolina and a staff accompanist at Elon University. Her most recent project at MANC was Composers Day, a workshop with beginner activities that aimed to increase the knowledge of important composers from each music period. She also taught at Triple Threat School of Music and Dance, Stagelights Theatre and Dance and the Community Collaborative Program at University of NC in Greensboro.
Antonela’s most used method books for beginners are from Alfred Music, Bastien, The Music Tree, WunderKeys and her most recent pedagogical discoveries: Piano Safari and The Tales of a Musical Journey by Irina Gorin. She also uses the Celebration Series, Keith Snell etc.
Antonela teaches at her home studio in Cupertino and is also a piano instructor at the California Conservatory of Music, Joyful Music Melodies and Cupertino Music Academy, where she has led masterclasses. Since she graduated from the University of NC in Greensboro, Antonela has been teaching private and group classes. She is a member of The California Music Teachers Association and The North Carolina Music Teachers Association. Her most recent leadership role includes the secretary of CAPMT and the social media chair of The Greensboro Music Teachers Association. Antonela is also a member of Nicola Cantan’s "Vibrant Music Teachers” and Tim Topham’s “Inner Circle”.
